Sunday marks the 87th anniversary of the birth of the famous Dynamo Moscow striker, two-time USSR champion Igor Chislenko.
Igor Leonidovich was born on January 4, 1939, in Moscow. As a child, he enjoyed various sports, but his love of football and bandy prevailed. He began his career at the FShM, from where he was first invited to join the Dynamo hockey team and later to the football club's reserves.
In 1959, Chislenko made his debut for the white-and-blues' first team. Over 14 seasons with Dynamo, he played 251 matches (17th place in club history) and scored 73 goals (7th place), winning two USSR championships (1959, 1963) and the USSR Cup (1967).
Chislenko played 55 matches for the USSR national team and scored 21 goals.
Beyond football, the legendary Dynamo player was also successful on the ice. With Dynamo, he won silver (1959) and bronze (1960) medals in the USSR Bandy Championship, and played in the victorious 1960/61 championship. He played 79 matches in the national championship and scored 40 goals.
Igor Leonidovich Chislenko died on September 22, 1994, at the age of 55. He is buried at the Vagankovskoye Cemetery in Moscow.
