The Washington Capitals captain scored a historic goal in the third period of Sunday's match with the leader of the NHL regular season Colorado Avalanche.
Alexander became only the second hockey player in history to reach this peak. The record for goals scored in the regular championships and the NHL playoffs belongs to Wayne Gretzky (1016). Last year Ovechkin beat the legendary Canadian in goals in regular championships.
Congratulations to the pupil of the Moscow "Dynamo" with another great achievement!
