Saturday marks the 77th anniversary of the famous Dynamo midfielder, former team captain Oleg Dolmatov.
Oleg Vasilyevich was born on November 29, 1948, in the Chelyabinsk region. He began playing football in Krasnoyarsk, where after graduating from the Yunost youth academy, he joined the local Avtomobilist team. After playing five years in the Major League for Kairat Almaty, Dolmatov transferred to Dynamo Moscow in 1972, where he spent nine years, six of them as team captain. During this time, he played 198 matches, scored 11 goals, and won three trophies: the USSR Championship (1976), the USSR Cup (1977), and the USSR Super Cup (1977).
In 1971, Oleg Vasilyevich received his first call-up to the USSR national team, for which he played until 1977. He played 14 matches for the national team and won silver at the European Championship (1972).
After retiring in 1979, Dolmatov enjoyed a fruitful career as a coach with various teams across the country. In this role, he won the silver medal in the Russian Championship with CSKA.
