Team status
Dynamo confidently outplayed Sochi in the away cup match this week, winning the biggest victory under Valery Karpin (4:0). The standards were played again: El-Mehdi Maouhoub scored after a free kick, Nicolas Marichal scored after a corner. Another goal turned out to be on the account of Dmitry Skopintsev, and Konstantin Tyukavin put the final touch with his first goal after returning to the field.
Kurban Rasulov made his second clean sheet, while Sochi did not land a single accurate shot on his goal. Unfortunately, it was not without a fly in the ointment – Denis Makarov received a serious knee injury and will now miss a couple of weeks.
About the opponent
Last season, Orenburg took 15th place in the RPL, after which most of the leaders left the team. However, a week before the start of the new season, the bureau of the RFU Executive Committee left Orenburg residents in the elite instead of the excluded Torpedo, and they had to complete the roster already during the season.
With such introductory, it is not surprising that the start of Vladimir Slishkovich's team turned out to be difficult. Traditionally strong at home, Orenburg has not yet won a single victory in the championship on its own field – 4 draws and a minimal defeat from Krasnodar. But thanks to the away victory over Akron, the team is still just above the relegation zone, although it lost in the last round to a direct competitor of Pari NN with a penalty kick of Ivan Ignatiev, who made his debut, not realized in the last minutes.
At the same time, Orenburg residents are doing better in the Russian Cup – in three home matches in a row they beat Akhmat (2:1), lost in a bright shootout to Zenit (3:5) and on Tuesday put the squeezeon Rubin, who played most of the meeting in the minority, in a penalty shootout (0:0, 4:2). In this game, another newcomer to the team made his debut – the central defender of the Bulgarian national team, Emil Tsenov.
— Every game is very important for us. We really need points now, we will prepare for the match against Dynamo. We need to correct mistakes that always exist, and the coach's task is to try to correct them," Sliskovic said ahead of Sunday's match.
