Alekper Mamedov

A central striker who played a leading role in Dynamo in the 1950s. In his actions on the field, he combined virtuoso dribbling passes with combination play. He was fast and sharp, and had an excellent view of the field.

Thanks to his technical talent, he could easily pass several opponents directly in the penalty area. At the same time, he had an excellent short and medium pass, due to which he played out intricate combinations with partners in the final third of the field. One of those who made the white-blues' game bright and spectacular.

He ended his career in his native Neftyanik from Baku in 1961. After that, he worked as a coach in the same Neftyanik, with which he reached the semi-finals of the USSR Cup and won bronze medals in the championship. In 1993, he was the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team. He had a higher education in the field of physical education, so he actively taught and even became the head of the physical education department, received the academic title of professor. Until the end of his life, he was engaged in science in his field.
