A representative of proto-total football, he had a strong physique and outstanding endurance. He made a phenomenal amount of work from one penalty area to another. He was a tactically competent and technically impeccable player. A real favorite of the public of those times and the engine of the team.

He practiced active pressing, thanks to which he instantly took away the ball and with subtle passes created favorable conditions for his teammates to develop an attack. He had a solid strike, which often baffled goalkeepers.

He ended his football career in Dynamo Kiev, after which he worked as a coach of children's and youth teams of Dynamo Moscow until the end of his life.
