He is considered one of the fastest footballers of the 1950s in the Soviet Union. He was a versatile player: he could play on both left and right flanks. He had a well-placed shot with both feet, which made him even more dangerous during flank passes.

Due to his high speed, he could get away from almost any opponent, after which he either made powerful shots or longitudinal, targeted passes to his teammates. He did not have outstanding technique, but he always maintained the team's tempo and was distinguished by his game discipline.

In 1958, he was seriously injured, after which he was unable to return to his previous level. He ended his career in 1962 in Riga, playing for the Daugava team. He then graduated from the School of Coaches, but preferred to work as a diplomatic courier in the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
