He is considered the best midfielder of the post-war years. He made a huge amount of work on the field, had high speed and masterfully combined with his teammates. In addition to football, he played hockey and bandy and was even a multiple national champion in these sports.

Thanks to his endurance and speed, he was focused on attack. He stood out for his positional play both in defense and when moving the ball forward. He had a great shot with his right foot.

After his playing career, he continued as a coach. He was an assistant to Mikhail Yakushin and Alexander Ponomarev on the coaching staff of the main team. In this capacity, he was involved in all of the team's victories in the 1950s and early 1960s. In his last years, he managed children's and youth teams in administrative positions.
