The match of the 5th round of the Russian Premier League, held at VTB Arena, ended with the victory of our team with a score of 3:1.
Compared to the previous round, the blue-and-whites' starting lineup saw three changes: Anton Miranchuk replaced the injured Daniil Fomin, while Leon Zaydenzall and Dmitry Skopintsev filled in at the flanks.
For perhaps the first time this season, our team didn't have the upper hand in the start. The visitors were very persistent in the first 10 minutes, creating a lot of tension in Kurban Rasulov's penalty area. First, Artem Maksimenko crossed accurately to Artur Garibyan, Rasulov saved, and Iker Pozo missed his follow-up shot. Astemir Gordyushenko headed twice after crosses from the flanks, both times wide.
Dynamo gradually moved the ball into the opposing half and began to create chances. Miranchuk fired a powerful shot from 20 meters into the corner, but Sergei Volkov deflected the ball out for a corner. Timofey Marinkin twice created promising chances for Gladyshev, but first Yaroslav’s cross was intercepted by the goalkeeper, and a little later his left-handed shot went inches wide of the post.
Gladyshev had an even better opportunity in the 28th minute, when he fired a pass from Konstantin Tyukavin from near point-blank range — Volkov was again on target. A couple of minutes later, the visitors took the lead. Iker Pozo stole the ball from Marinkin in the center of the field, carried it forward, and fired an unstoppable shot into the top right corner from 20 meters.
After this collision, the young Dynamo midfielder lay on the ground for a long time and was soon replaced by Danil Glebov, and the white-and-blues quickly equalized. Maksim Osipenko crossed into the penalty area, Tyukavin controlled the ball, and with his second touch, he sent it into the net while diving — 1-1.
At halftime, Juan Cáceres replaced Zaydenzal, and just five minutes later the Paraguayan provided an assist. Tyukavin converted his cross from the right flank on his second attempt, completing his second goal. Arthur immediately tested Volkov’s reaction with a shot into the near corner – the visiting goalkeeper saved it.
However, in the 55th minute, he was forced to retrieve the ball from the net again: Gladyshev burst into the penalty area, played a one-two with Miranchuk, and fired a powerful left-footed shot. The defender blocked the shot, and Anton, who was first on the rebound, easily scored. However, the visitors didn't collapse and tested Rasulov's goal twice in the space of three minutes: first, Garibyan hit the crossbar from a slight offside position, and then Dmitry Tananeyev hit the post after a corner.
However, this surge in the visitors' play proved to be their last, and the final half hour of the match was played mostly in their own half. The blue-and-whites made numerous plays near Rodina's penalty area, but were unable to bring the score down to a tie. Ultimately, their first comeback victory of the season allows Dynamo to move into the top half of the standings.
In the next round, Dynamo will play Lokomotiv away on August 29.
