Interview with the head of the Dynamo football school in Angelovo

We talked with the head of the Dynamo Angelovo school, Alexey Novikov, to learn about their approach to teaching children, coaching staff, experience in participating in tournaments and working with parents.

Tell us about your school.

— Our first school was founded in Angelovo, near the Pyatnitskoye Highway metro station. Like any sports school, at the beginning of our work we faced difficulties, for example, with the involvement of pupils. But thanks to hard work and love for our business, we overcame them: we gained the trust of our parents, formed a professional and experienced coaching staff, ensured regular participation in competitions and prepared high-quality infrastructure.

To date, our school has expanded its activities by opening new branches, including at the address on Varshavskoye Highway, near Nagatinskaya metro station. Today Dynamo Angelovo has more than 100 students in several locations, internal events, a cohesive team and a full—fledged community.

What can you say about your coaching staff?

— Our coaching staff consists of young and highly qualified specialists. Among them there are players who performed at the stages of the Champions League, winners of the Second League of Russia and members of the Russian national futsal team. We have gathered real professionals to provide young football players with high-quality football education.

We attach great importance to psychological education, so our coaches take additional courses. They are constantly developing, participating in internships, including directly at the Dynamo Academy, and improving qualification categories.

Describe your philosophy of teaching children.

— As I have already said, we pay more attention to the psychological aspect of training young athletes. In addition, we strive to ensure that the training is regular and continuous — we believe that this is how the best results can be achieved.

Of course, we turn to the Dynamo Central Academy for methodological materials on the training process, we strive to apply innovations to enrich our experience. We highly appreciate the contribution that the club makes to the sports education of schools like ours. At the same time, our coaching staff complements the knowledge gained with their experience.

Your school has a lot of experience in participating in tournaments. Tell us about him.

— We really regularly participate in competitions. Every year our teams play MCL, changing the format depending on the age, including options such as 7 +1 and 4+1. Last year we became champions in the 2017 category, and also won prizes in the 2014 category.

However, our main goal is not to win prizes at any cost. The main value of the tournaments is providing children with a gaming experience, which allows them not only to feel the spirit of the competition, but also to consolidate and work out the knowledge gained in training. Tournaments contribute to the development of team spirit and mutual assistance on the field.

We ourselves organize internal competitions for our teams several times a year, and also periodically hold friendly matches with colleagues from other schools — we try to do this as often as possible. One way or another, it doesn't matter if our team takes 1st, 2nd or 3rd place - thanks to frequent tournaments, after a year, children have noticeable progress in football education. And this is the most important thing.

What successes are you particularly proud of?

— It is difficult to determine one bright match or achievement, although we are pleased with our performances at tournaments. Still, the main achievement can be considered the level of training that we provide to our students and the high-quality organization of the entire training process.

We are also proud of the way we organize internal events. For example, one of the first — the open day — has become a landmark for us. We invited veterans of Russian football, freestyle wrestlers, many children and parents gathered — in fact, it was a real sports festival. This is not only a bright and memorable event — it contributed to our growth and attracted new students.

What does it mean for you to be part of the Dynamo community?

— First of all, this is a club with a rich history, and we are proud to be a part of it. Our school strives to develop together with Dynamo and contribute to the development of the entire community. In general, cooperation with the club helps us to make this story even more vivid and intense.

How do you work with parents?

— Communication with the parents of our students is stable and organized at a high level. We regularly hold meetings where we discuss key events and plans, answer questions and wishes of parents, and share information about the progress of their children.

In addition, my parents and I attend Dynamo Moscow home matches.

What goals do you set for yourself?

— Our main goal is to justify the trust that parents and children give us. We strive to help young athletes become professionals and become a launching pad for them in big-time sports.

At the same time, we understand that not all children dream of a football career — many just want to lead an active lifestyle and enjoy the game. Our school tries to take into account the interests of all students, and today we succeed.

Of course, we intend to continue to provide high-quality education and contribute to the development of football in Moscow and Russia. We stand for the development of children's sports, high customer orientation and organizational efficiency — these principles are the basis of all our work. We plan to further expand our activities — to accept new students and open a new branch.
