Luis Chavez: From the very beginning I wanted to come here

Mexican central midfielder Luis Chavez answered journalists' questions after signing a contract with Dynamo Moscow.

— I would like to thank the club for believing in me and making this transfer real. It was a difficult process that took a long time. I am very happy to be here and I want to start playing for my new team as soon as possible.

— Why did you choose Russia to start your journey in Europe?

— Since childhood I have dreamed of going to play in Europe. When I realized that Dynamo were interested in me, I was very happy. It was the first European club that made a concrete offer. I appreciated the trust of the coach and club's management, as well as the efforts they put into this transfer. There were certain difficulties, but together we overcame them, and I am very glad to finally be here.

— What do you feel being the first Mexican in the RPL?

— It is a great honor to represent my country in the new league and a great responsibility. I hope that now more Mexicans will come to Russia.

— What are your main goals in the new club?

— First of all, I want to start playing as soon as possible. I hope that the coach will put me in the squad in the upcoming matches. Like any player, I want to fight for titles. I am sure that our team is capable of doing this. I am satisfied with the challenges that await me in Russia.

— How did Mexico fans and football officials react to your transfer to the Russian club?

— My family is very happy for me. They knew that I was going after my dream. Of course, Russia is far away, but we, as football players, should not be afraid of making difficult decisions. I was sure from the very beginning that I wanted to come here, and my relatives supported me all the way.

— Have you already talked to the head coach of the Mexican national team about your move to Russia?

— I haven't talked to him much on this subject, just a couple of times. We talked after the CONCACAF Gold Cup, and he knew about my thoughts and intentions. I told him that I wanted to move to Dynamo, and he understood my decision.

— Have you already appreciated the club's infrastructure?

— Yes, I have already visited the base. Its conditions are simply amazing. I really liked everything. There are few clubs in Mexico that can boast of this kind of training ground, and I think that all over the world too. Dynamo create a lot of opportunities for players to grow and progress.

— Have you ever seen snow? Are you ready for it?

— No, never seen. In Pachuca, it is usually from 0 to 5 degrees in winter, so there is no snow.
