On Saturday night Uruguay, as part of which Dynamo centre-back was, levelled the game against Argentina (3:3).
Marichal started all four matches of the group stage. In the game against Peru (3:0) Nico led his national team with the captain's armband. In the final encounter of the tournament Marichal made an assist against Argentina.
The Uruguayans collected 4 points and took 4th place in their group. Thus, they failed to qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics, which will be held in Paris.
