Our team had only two days to prepare for the match after the cup derby with CSKA, in which it lost on the road with a score of 1:2, playing the last half hour in the minority after the red card of El-Mehdi Maouhoub. Dmitry Skopintsev scored the only goal of the blue and whites with a beautiful long-range shot.

Let's note the return of Andrei Lunev after a slight injury, as well as the youth pair Dmitry Alexandrov – Egor Smelov, who looked good in the center of the field in their allotted time.  

Nicolas Marichal, Milan Majstorovic, Diego Laxalt, Alexander Kutitskiy, Nicolas Ngamaleu and Danil Glebov missed the match with CSKA by the decision of the medical staff. Perhaps some of them will be able to help the team on Saturday.

Lokomotiv, which lacked transfers in the winter, started the second part of the championship with two draws against Caucasian teams. In Makhachkala, the railwaymen escaped the defeat in the end thanks to a beautiful goal by Dmitry Vorobyov (1:1), and at home with Akhmat, on the contrary, they could not keep the advantage after an early goal by Alexei Batrakov (1:1). The young midfielder is having a great season and ranks second in the league in the goal+pass system with 16 points.

It was he who on Tuesday brought Lokomotiv to the Cup away match with Dynamo Makhachkala with the captain's armband. The first half of the meeting was held in an equal struggle and ended with a score of 1:1, and the second half of the railway team was in the majority and snatched victory thanks to Sergei Pinyaev's goal. The team interrupted its six-match winless streak in all tournaments and reached the semifinals of the Path of the Regions.

— It was quite a tense, fighting match on both sides, with an exorbitant level of duels. We had quite good interactions — that's what we're trying to instill in our guys. We are very glad that today our young guys, who came out both in the starting lineup and during the match, are hardening, achieving results. We had to take this step in order to prepare for the championship in a good mood, - said Lokomotiv head coach Mikhail Galaktionov.

In the game of the 20th round with Grozny, the captain of the red-greens Dmitry Barinov was injured and is out for a month. Thus, on Saturday, 20-year-old Danila Godyaev, who has proven himself well at winter training camps and in the first spring matches, will probably come out in the center of midfield.

Danil Glebov spent a year at the Lokomotiv Academy, from where he moved to Anzhi Makhachkala.

Denis Makarov and Lokomotiv defender Ilya Samoshnikov played together for Rubin Kazan in 2020-2021.

Dynamo fitness coach Yevgeny Stukalov worked at Lokomotiv in 2010-2011.

For Marcel Licka and Mikhail Galaktionov, this will be the eighth personal meeting – the Czech specialist has four wins, one draw and two defeats.

In the face-to-face confrontation, our team has a decent advantage: 63 wins, 34 draws and 49 defeats. The goal difference is 249:202.

The top scorers in the derby in the national championships are: Dmitry Loskov (11 goals), Kevin Kuranyi (7), Konstantin Beskov, Yuri Vshivtsev and Viktor Voroshilov (all 6).

This season, the teams have already met three times: in the second round match, Dynamo won a beautiful victory at VTB Arena (3:1), and then, by the sum of two matches, knocked Lokomotiv out of the RPL Path in the Cup (1:2 and 1:0, 4:3 on penalties).

Rafael Shafeev will be the main referee, assisted by linesmen Maxim Gavrilin and Igor Demeshko. Vitaly Meshkov and Vera Opeikina will be responsible for the video Video Assistance Referee system (VAR).

Previously, a 32-year-old referee from Volgograd served the blue and white team only once, in which they drew with Fakel in December 2023 (1:1).
