Team status
Dynamo Moscow played a goalless draw against Krasnodar in an away cup match on Tuesday, losing on penalties. Kurban Rasulov kept his third consecutive clean sheet, saving five shots.
Yaroslav Gladyshev returned to the field after nearly two months, playing 20 minutes towards the end of the match. Konstantin Tyukavin was back in the starting lineup and played 62 minutes.
About the rival
In the summer, the Railwaymen successfully replaced the departing Ilya Samoshnikov, Nair Tiknizyan, Timur Suleymanov, and Vadim Rakov, who went on loan to Krylia Sovetov. Their replacements, Christian Ramirez, Danil Prutsev, Aleksandr Rudenko, Zelimkhan Bakayev, and Nikolai Komlichenko, added speed and tenacity to the pitch.
As a result, Lokomotiv won four games at the start of the season and took the lead, notably beating Krasnodar and Spartak. However, the red-greens then nearly matched Dynamo Moscow's 1998 record (seven consecutive draws) and picked up five points in five matches, three times losing victories in stoppage time.
A sixth consecutive draw with a stubborn Rubin team was close, but Dmitry Barinov's long-range strike and a poor performance by the Kazan goalkeeper ultimately earned three points for Mikhail Galaktionov's men. Alexey Batrakov remains as impressive as ever, having already scored 8+2, and Dmitry Vorobyov has been instrumental, scoring five times.
This week, the Railwaymen played a cup derby against CSKA and achieved a similar result to Dynamo – 0-0 and 2-4 in the penalty shootout. The Railwaymen are preparing for Saturday's derby with their strongest lineup – Sergey Pinyaev is expected to return to action after missing two months due to injury.
— Sergey has started training with the main group, and there's a good chance he'll be in the squad. We'll see how he performs over the next few days. We hope he's resolved all his health issues, and we're counting on him. He's not ready for 90 minutes yet, that's an objective situation, — noted Mikhail Galaktionov.
