Team status
Dynamo filled the international break with a friendly match against Rodina in Novogorsk; the first half saw goals from Bitello — sporting a new hairstyle and scoring with a header — as well as Ivan Sergeyev and Daniil Fomin (via a penalty), while the visitors narrowed the gap to 3–2 after the break.
As for the players on international duty, they delivered highly productive performances. Viktor Okishor scored twice for the Russian youth national team and won a penalty, Maximiliano Gutiérrez also netted two goals for Chile, and Konstantin Tyukavin scored his third goal for the Russian senior national team. Luis Chávez, Juan Cáceres, Maksim Osipenko, and Timofey Marinkin — who made his debut for the Russian youth squad — also played for their respective national teams.
Meanwhile, Dynamo and Luka Gagnidze have terminated their contract by mutual agreement. The Georgian midfielder, who had played for the "White-and-Blues" since 2022, made 55 appearances for the team and scored three goals.
About the opponent
During the break, Rubin also played a friendly match at their training ground, narrowly defeating Baltika. Nazmi Gripshi scored the only goal with a direct free-kick, which had been won by Ulvi Babayev.
The Kazan side also managed to bolster their attack — which had suffered significantly following Mirlind Daku's departure to Spartak — by signing free agent Eddie Salcedo. The 24-year-old forward is a product of the Genoa and Inter academies and has even played for Italy's youth national team; he spent the last two seasons playing in the Greek league.
While Dynamo has been on an impressive winning streak, Rubin is enjoying a positive run of its own: after a loss to Krasnodar in the opening round, they have remained unbeaten in the league. Notably, the Kazan team has conceded exactly one goal in eight consecutive rounds, with six of those matches ending in a 1–1 draw (they also defeated Akron and Dynamo Makhachkala).
"Another 1–1 draw," said Rubin head coach Frank Artiga after the Matchday 9 game against Rodina. "It’s worth noting that the team is fighting hard and showing great resilience; the lads gave it their all today. The team is now on a ten-match unbeaten run — eight in the league and two in the cup — though we would have liked to secure a win today."
Colombian defender Anderson Arroyo salvaged the draw for Rubin in this match, scoring with a stunning strike into the top corner. It was his third goal of the season, making him the team's top scorer in the RPL.
