Team status
Last Saturday, Dynamo defeated Rubin at home (3:1), interrupting a three-match winless streak in all tournaments. Yaroslav Gladyshev scored a double in his hundredth game for the club, and Bitello put the final point in the match.
Note the return to the field of Roberto Fernandez, who missed three weeks due to injury. Luis Chavez was in reserve, and Jorge Carrascal was completely left out of the application, although he was healthy and purposefully preparing for the match with Zenit.
About the opponent
So far in 2025, Zenit's problems arise exclusively in matches with Moscow teams: a zero draw in an equal game with CSKA, a well-deserved defeat from Spartak (1:2) and salvation at the end of the meeting with Lokomotiv (1:1) thanks to Alexander Sobolev's first goal for the new club in RPL.
But in the cup semi-final, the St. Petersburg team calmly dealt with Rostov, and in the championship they did not experience much difficulty in matches with Fakel (2:0), Rubin (4:0) and Krasnodar (4:1), reviving the championship intrigue. But with Khimki in the previous round I had to suffer – the tenth goal of the season by Luciano Gondu saved Sergey Semak's team. The coach of Zenit became the seventh in the history of the Russian championships to reach 150 victories.
— Everyone comes out against us with a special attitude. We are a team that has been the champion of recent years, of course, a special attitude is always present, – said Semak. – As for Dynamo, they are a very strong, good team that plays attacking football, scores a lot, and plays very well at home. I think we will have an interesting match.
Gustavo Mantuan and Strahinja Erakovic missed the match with Khimki due to injury - their participation in Saturday's match is questionable. But right-back Sergei Volkov, who has not played since August 2024 due to a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee, returned to Zenit's application.
