Team status
Blue and white on Saturday won the first victory of the season, beating Rostov (1:0). This victory was the first home victory over Rostov in the RPL since 2020. Ivan Sergeev scored his first goal for Dynamo from the transfer of Juan Caceres, who was recognized as the best player of the match for the second round in a row.
Unfortunately, at the end of the first half, Roberto Fernandez was injured and had to leave the field. So, by the way, Dynamo was joined by a third summer newcomer, Bakhtiyor Zaynutdinov, who is well known to Valery Karpin from working together at Rostov.
Given the short period between matches and the upcoming trip to Krasnodar, Karpin noted at the post-match press conference that the lineup for the cup game would be different.

About the opponent
Sochi, like our opponent in the first round, Baltika, solved the issue of returning to the Premier League in a year, but their path turned out to be more thorny. In the FNL championship, they took fifth place and got into the play-offs only because Chernomorets did not pass the licensing procedure. After the home loss to Pari NN, head coach Robert Moreno and his assistants did not come to the return match, but the team achieved the desired result and reached the RPL in the sum of two matches.
But it wasn't over yet. Shortly after that, the RFU began investigating the actions of Sochi striker Vladimir Pisarsky, who received a straight red card in the first half of the first play-off match. As a result, the striker was suspended from football for a year (plus three conditionally) for betting on this game, which, according to investigators, he made through a friend. The sanctions did not affect Sochi itself.
In the offseason, the leadership changed in the team, but Moreno remained, who received a serious strengthening of the squad. Yuri Dupin joined the goalkeeper line, Anton Zinkovsky and Mikhail Ignatov moved from Spartak to Sochi, Sergey Volkov and Dmitry Vasiliev were rented from Zenit, Alexander Osipov and Roman Yezhov strengthened the midfield. Saul Guarirapa and Alexander Kovalenko also returned to Sochi, and a young forward Artem Korneev came from Lokomotiv on loan.
But all these acquisitions did not help Sochi residents get off to a good start. First, in Moscow, Alexander Degtev was forced to capitulate three times at the end of the match with Lokomotiv (0:3), and in the second round, the southerners got 4 goals from Akron at home even before the break. In the second half, Maxim Rudakov deflected a penalty from Artem Dzyuba, the match ended with a score of 0:4, and Moreno burst into an angry speech.
— This is the day when I feel such shame, which I have not experienced throughout my career as a coach. I think each of us should share this responsibility and take the blame for this shame. I don't know what the players will do, but I will give half of the monthly salary. If it can't be done under the contract, then I'll just give it to charity, because we don't deserve that kind of money," said the Sochi coach.
Now, for sure, the team will be greatly updated in the cup game, and Moreno will check the case of the third goalkeeper in three matches.
