Rolan Gusev: "Rubens has good qualities for a defensive midfielder"

— Is there any progress compared to the first game of the tournament?

— We will look at the progress already in the season. Today there was a wave–like game - something turned out, somewhere they acted incorrectly. We asked the attacking players to run behind the defenders more often, but sometimes they lined up and didn't offer themselves. As soon as they did this, they passed penetrating passes behind their backs, and attacks turned out. In the second half, the game went on opposite courses – they could both miss and score. We still need to organize the game.

— There were several moments in the first half that Anton Miranchuk, who was at the forefront of the attack, did not use. Was that the plan?

— We asked him to run almost in line to Tyukavin. I think that before these moments Anton turned off somewhere and almost finished playing the episodes.

— Do you plan to use Rubens in the center of the field, even when Danil Glebov recovers?

— We will watch. He has good qualities for a defensive midfielder. He is good not only at destruction, but also accelerates attacks, regulates the pace of the game. He had already played in this position before, and we talked about it with him. We constantly carry out individual theories. So far I'm satisfied with how it works. It is clear that there are moments that need to be corrected, but he is very aggressive in selection, unfolds well and is always looking for an opportunity to give a penetrating transmission – these are the qualities of a modern prop.

— Why did Maxim Osipenko start both matches on the bench?

— We don't have the concept of "bench" yet, we are still looking at various combinations of central defenders. Because in the first game of the championship we will have everyone in line, and Niko (Marichal) misses the first cup match with Spartak. Plus, we have Ricardo about to join the general group. Therefore, we will decide immediately before the restart of the season.
