The head coach of Dynamo Moscow, Rolan Gusev, spoke about the first days of the winter training camp and the new members of the coaching staff of the team.
— The first three or four days are spent adapting — a difficult, even unpleasant, process. In the morning, we focus more on physical fitness, and in the evening, on technique and tactics. All the guys are understanding, because without this work, it will be difficult to move forward.
— Tell us how you selected your coaching staff.
— I know the qualities of the coaching staff members: Roman Sergeyevich Sharonov, Yuri Valentinovich Zhirkov, and Agustin Quihillaborda. I already knew Roman and Yuri well from their playing careers. We've talked with them, and everyone knows their individual responsibilities, as well as our shared goals and objectives. Everyone understands everything perfectly. We made them an offer, and they happily accepted.
— What responsibilities will they be assigned?
— Roman Sergeyevich will be primarily responsible for defensive actions and attacking initiatives, as well as our general understanding of what we want to see from the players and the team as a whole. I'd like Yuri Valentinovich to focus on his core positions, that is, the full-backs and wingers, because it's hard to match his experience. He's played in these positions and knows them well; we've discussed it all. Agustin Quihillaborda is a fitness coach from Argentina who will be overseeing our players' physical fitness.
— What are the team's plans for the first training camp?
— We're currently laying the physical foundation for the first training camp. On February 23 and 26, we'll play two international matches as part of the Betboom Dynamo Global Challenge. We haven't played against foreign teams in a while, so it will be interesting. But first and foremost, we're not preparing for these matches; rather, we're using these games to prepare for the resumption of the season.
We'll see what the workload will be and how much time everyone will spend on the field. Based on the players' condition, we'll approach the first match and see who will play a little more and who less. We'll monitor and analyze everything. After the matches against the Chinese teams, we'll have two days off, and then we'll continue preparing at the second training camp.
