The head coach of the blue and whites Sandro Schwarz answered journalists' questions after the away match with Zenit St. Petersburg (0:3).
– Congratulations to Zenit on the victory. We got into the game quite well, had the initiative, created chances. Then there was a penalty and a second optional goal, which happened after our player slipped on a wet field. In the second half, we could have returned to the game, had several scoring chances, but in the end we missed the third goal from a free kick. Yes, the result is strange, but we played well for most of the match.
– What is the reason that the team failed to score?
– In general, we had a good meeting, played energetically, struck a lot of blows, more than Zenit, but they used their chances and we didn't, that was the difference. Of course, we are disappointed with the outcome of the match, but we showed a solid game on the road in St. Petersburg, and we can highlight a lot of good things in it.
– The key moment was the penalty. You reacted quite sarcastically to him. How do you rate this moment?
– The problem was even before that moment, when, in my opinion, the referee did not see a clean foul on our player. As for the penalty, I would not like to comment on it.
– Zenit lost to Rodina in the previous round. Did this create additional difficulties, given that Zenit was angry because of this?
– Everyone saw today's match and can analyze it. I don't think the problem was that Zenit lost in the last round, the problem was that we couldn't score. But in our game I saw a clear structure, a lot of good things in possession of the ball, work in the final third, counterpressing and selection. So I don't see any point in talking about what happened in the last game.
– After you returned to Russia, is it possible to expect the arrival of other German football players and coaches?
– It's hard for me to speak for others, but I can say that the RPL is a strong league. I am very happy to be here and I see good progress in our development. Despite this result, I am sure that when I review this game, I will see a lot of good moments.
