Valery Karpin: "It will be interesting and useful to play with teams from Europe"

— Do you plan to continue attending the games "What? Where? When?"

— I was on the set the day before yesterday. Escaped from the base. The autumn games will begin — then we'll look at the schedule.

— We remember the match of the national teams of Russia and Serbia at the VTB Arena. And what is it like to play at the club level against Serbian teams?

— For us, this is primarily preparation for the season. It's clear that we've been playing mostly with Russian teams lately, so it's interesting to play with teams from Europe. Besides, it is interesting to test yourself in conditions close to official matches, that is, at our stadium with fans. There will be interesting matches in terms of our readiness and how the players perceive the information and the requirements that we impose on them. All this is very interesting and useful.

— A video where you played with Xabi Alonso has been uploaded. Follow him? Maybe you're talking?

— Yes, I follow his career. We played with him for two seasons, I trained him, and then he was sold to Liverpool (laughs). We saw him in San Sebastian even before he became the coach of Bayer. But it is clear that we don't call him every day.

— Would you like to invite him to the Fraternal Cup with Real Madrid?

— It's more of a question: are we ready to pay Real Madrid so much money to come?

— Vladislav Radimov called Bitello a clown and said that he needed to leave our championship. How do you comment?

— I know that Bitello is a good football player, so he definitely doesn't need to go anywhere.

— Do you know about the curse of Dynamo and how to remove it?

— Let me forward this question to Pavel Konstantinovich. Go and light a candle. And we will win. What are my questions? If that's the problem.

— How do you feel about the loss of Luis Chavez and how do you plan to replace him?

— It is clear that I have a negative attitude. Another player minus. How to replace it? Those players that we already have and, perhaps, there will be some additional acquisitions due to his injury. We will discuss this with the sports director and the club.

— Who do you think would be able to play you in a movie? Nikita Kologrivy is somewhat like you. Perhaps because of his audacious nature. Would you like Kologrivy to play you in the movie?

— If Nikita Kologrivy wants to play me, then no problem at all. If you say that he is something like me… In principle, it is possible to conduct a casting, I will conduct it myself and select it then.

— Based on the first training sessions and games of Dynamo, which line is the strongest and most intense, which does not require reinforcement? And what is the most problematic?

— If we talk about a busy line, I think we don't have one, especially due to Chavez's injury and the absence of Carrascal so far.

— Have you already liked someone from the youth? Is someone ready to play in the base right now?

— There are young guys who can already help. I can't say yet that any of them have become the main player, although there are all the prerequisites for this. Like all young people, they are inherently unstable. They give out some segments, but they are not yet able to play consistently at a high level. That's probably what youth is all about. Okishor, Alexandrov, Smelov are promising guys, and there is no doubt that over time they will become the main players of Dynamo. In the meantime, we need to work, work and work.

— Is the current Dynamo squad stronger than the Spartak squad, with which you took the silver medals of the Russian championship?

— People often compare different eras and years. For example, is the 1999 national team stronger than the 2009 national team? The comparison is incorrect. The players that Dynamo has now are definitely not weaker, but perhaps even stronger.

— So we are waiting for the championship?

— We hope so.

— We saw the first game of Dynamo with you as the head coach. There were two halves with completely different lineups. Do you treat the BetBoom Fraternal Cup as a training session and are you still looking at the players, or will it already be Karpin's game?

— Definitely still looking closely. The playing time and load are distributed so that everyone will play for 45 minutes. That is, tomorrow we are waiting for two completely different compositions. Today they have already received a morning load, evening training is ahead, so they simply can't stand 70-80 minutes, plus there is a risk of injury. Therefore, we have two 45-minute trains scheduled with OFC. But the next game with Partizan, one of the teams will spend 60 minutes, and the other 30. In general, we treat this cup as a preparation for the official season.

— What does participation in the Fraternal Cup mean to you? What goals do you set for the tournament?

— First of all, I would like to thank you for the invitation to the tournament and welcome all Russians. We are happy to be in this tournament again, and these matches are very important for us.

— Do your players and you personally consider the tournament as a kind of talent fair, where your players can prove themselves and show themselves in front of Russian clubs, and possibly get some kind of profitable offer? Is this an additional incentive for your players?

— We have a lot of young players. For my team, this tournament is an opportunity to get a good experience. I think these are the players who can prove themselves. It is very important to show yourself better than last year.

— Simo, a year ago you came here with a club that had just entered the Serbian Super League. And they immediately took fourth place, they could even be in the top three. Did the Fraternal Cup train you that way?

— Last year's tournament was a very good preparation for our season. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to win that year. I hope that this year we will be able to play differently. Yes, it was a good preparation. And I think this tournament will also be a good help for us on the eve of the new season.
