Dynamo Moscow head coach Valery Karpin shared his expectations from the Russian Championship match with CSKA in a flash interview with Match TV.
— You have already been at Dynamo for two months. How has your life changed during this time compared to the time when you headed Rostov?
— It hasn't changed much, except that there are fewer trips and they started spending less time on buses and airplanes. This is, of course, a positive moment.
— Are there any components in the team's game that are already close to your requirements, or do you need to improve absolutely everything?
— If we exclude individual mistakes, then on defense globally the team is already close to what we would like to see. If we take the game with Krasnodar out of the brackets, then in the other three matches there were practically no chances at our gates. In attack, yes, there are certain problems. I associate this most of all with mutual understanding, because we haven't played a single match in the same squad yet.
— Was there any principle of building the game that you abandoned before the game with CSKA?
— If we talk about leaving the defense through the goalkeeper with short passes in his penalty area, then we abandoned him even earlier. It requires refinement, it takes a lot more time, training, habits and mutual understanding.
— Today we will see Igor Leshchuk at the gate. How will this affect the game principles?
— It will not affect the game principles. Lunev was injured in training, so he's not even in reserve.
— Will any adjustments be made in terms of attacking actions of the extreme defenders, taking into account the shape of Glebov and Krugovoy?
— I have never restricted either the outfield or the central defenders, regardless of the opponent. If a defender goes on the attack, the main thing is that there are players who can back him up.
— How much more difficult or easier is it to analyze this CSKA compared to the one managed by Marko Nikolic?
— From the point of view of analysis, everything is the same. Of course, each team is preparing some surprises, but in terms of understanding what they are doing on the field, it is the same as it was in the spring. In some phases of the game they are located in the center of the same diamond, in others they can play in two linear support. It is visible, and it is clear when it happens.
