Monday marks the 111th anniversary of the birth of the best scorer in the history of our club, Sergei Solovyov.
At Dynamo, Sergei Aleksandrovich was already a mature footballer at 25 years old, a year before the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War. None of this prevented him from becoming one of the key weapons in Mikhail Yakushin's brilliant team. Over the course of eight seasons in the USSR Championship, he only failed to reach the 10-goal mark twice, and in just 233 matches with Dynamo, he scored 152 goals!
His incredible goal-scoring instincts contributed greatly to the team's achievements during those years – three championships, four silver medals, and one bronze. And his hat-trick in three minutes against Torpedo in 1948 is unlikely to ever be matched. The incredible speed of an incredible striker.
