Tuesday marks the 86th anniversary of the birth of the legendary midfielder of Dynamo Valery Maslov.
Dynamo invited Maslov in 1961, when he had already gained a reputation as a versatile player who was distinguished on the field by hard work and inexhaustible energy. In his first match for the blue and white, Maslov scored a goal, and in just 11 years he scored 54 times in 351 matches (the fifth figure in the club's history).
Together with the team, Valery Pavlovich became the champion of the USSR (in 1963), won silver medals three times, took the National Cup twice (1967 and 1970) and six times entered the list of the 33 best football players of the season in the USSR.
In bandy, Maslov achieved no less impressive results: 10 national championships as part of Dynamo, three victories in the European Champions Cup and eight victories at the world championships. Valery Pavlovich was the only captain of the USSR national football and hockey teams in history.
