In the first match of the tournament, the Mexicans beat the South African national team 2-0 at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
Luis Chavez entered the field in the 66th minute with the score 1-0, and a minute later his team scored their second goal. The referee showed three red cards – two to South African players and one to Mexican Lokomotiv defender César Montes.
In the second round of the group stage, Mexico will play South Korea on June 19 (kickoff at 4:00 AM Moscow time).
