From August 24 to 26, the Dynamo Academy Novgorod Cup for boys born in 2013 was held at the Elektron Stadium in Veliky Novgorod. Eight teams competed over three days, and the Dynamo Central Academy from Moscow took home the trophy.
The Muscovites made it through the tournament unscathed. They won three games in their group, scoring a 20-1 goal difference. They crushed Dynamo Voronezh 5-0 in the semifinals, and Dynamo Barnaul 8-0 in the final.
Silver went to Barnaul, who snatched victory from Dagestan in the semifinals only in a penalty shootout (2-2 in regulation time, 7-6). Dynamo from the Republic of Dagestan won bronze, defeating Voronezh 3-1 in the third-place match.
The tournament hosts, Dynamo-Electron, finished fifth: in the playoffs, they defeated Fakel Voronezh 1-0, and in the fifth-place game, they defeated their peers from Ulyanovsk 3-0.
The new football pitches at the Elektron Stadium were opened at the closing ceremony. The ribbon was cut by Alexander Kolmykov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the United Central Bank of the Russian Federation (UNITED TSUPIS), Maxim Mateshev, Director of the Novgorod Region branch of the Dynamo Academy, and two Dynamo-Electron players. The new pitches are located immediately behind the main pitches and, after landscaping, will be available to younger players from Dynamo-Electron and Elektron.
The awards were presented by Novgorod Region Sports Minister Kristina Mikhailova, Alexander Kolmykov, Irina Karagozlyu, Manager of the Novgorod Regional Public Organization (ROO) of VTB Bank PJSC, Alexander Kuznetsov, Director of the Lev Yashin Dynamo Academy, Ruslan Gazzaev, Head of the Academy's Selection Department, as well as the Academy branch directors Dmitry Yashin (Ulyanovsk Region), Sergey Proskuryakov (Voronezh Region), Konstantin Garbuz (Altai Krai), Magomed Isaev (Republic of Dagestan), and Maxim Mateshev (Novgorod Region), and Evgeny Yatchenko, Curator of the Branches' Sports Department.
In addition to the matches, a photo zone, activity area, and Dynamo market were open at Electron throughout the three days. A quest and prize drawing were also held for guests.
The tournament was organized by the Dynamo Football Academy. The Cup was held with the support of the United Central Bank of the Russian Federation (UNITED TSUPIS), a partner of the Academy's Novgorod branch since 2022, and VTB Bank. During their partnership with the United Central Bank of the Russian Federation, Dynamo-Elektron players have competed in dozens of Russian and international tournaments, and the training infrastructure at the Electron Stadium has been upgraded.
