Team status
In the previous round, Dynamo defeated Akhmat Grozny for the third time this season (2–0) and remain in second place in the league table. Daniil Fomin recorded a goal and an assist in the same match—only the second time he has achieved this in his Dynamo career—while Konstantin Tyukavin scored his 69th goal for the "White-Blues," putting him just one goal away from entering the club’s all-time top 10 goalscorers list.
"We played very well throughout the entire match. From the very beginning, we maintained high intensity and created numerous chances. The second half followed a similar pattern; we had plenty of opportunities, and our opponents also managed a couple of decent chances. Ultimately, it was a well-deserved victory, delivered in good style. Now, we need to keep this momentum going in Voronezh," said Sandro Schwarz after the match.
According to the German manager, the injury list currently includes Bakhtiyor Zaynutdinov, Alexander Kutitsky, Milan Majstorović, Luis Chávez, and Nicolás Marichal. Maksim Osipenko rejoined the main group on Thursday, while Andrey Lunev has been training with the squad all week and is expected to start in goal on Saturday.
About the opponent
Fakel, having returned to the Russian Premier League (RPL), struggled to find their footing this season; following the 10th round, Oleg Vasilenko lost his position as head coach. Notably, a similar scenario unfolded in 2022: after leading the team to the top flight, Vasilenko departed just eight rounds into the season. On both occasions, the team had yet to secure a win at the time of his dismissal — and in both instances, their first victory arrived in the very next match.
This time, following a 0–5 defeat to Lokomotiv, Alexey Rebko stepped in as interim head coach. Fakel immediately responded with a 2–1 away win against Krylia Sovetov, followed by a sensational 2–0 away victory over Krasnodar in the Cup. Heading into a crucial clash against their then-closest rival, Rodina, the Voronezh side was in high spirits — only to lose by a single goal, conceded via a penalty that the Expert Refereeing Committee (ERC) later deemed to have been awarded in error.
In the most recent round, a single first-half goal from Rubin Kazan proved decisive. Consequently, Fakel now trails the safety of 14th place by five points. Scoring has proven exceptionally difficult for the team, with only 8 goals managed across 13 rounds — by far the worst record in the league.
There was speculation that Rolan Gusev might step in to rescue Fakel, but he instead headed to Grozny to replace Stanislav Cherchesov. Meanwhile, Khasanbi Bidzhiev — who recently garnered attention for his impressive work with Dynamo Makhachkala — has taken the helm in Voronezh. Saturday’s match will mark his debut in the new role.
